About History and Culture Foundation
We have been active since 2004. The mission of the Historia i Kultura Foundation is to promote reading and provide historical education.
We carry out projects that promote reading and bring Polish and world literature, including historical literature, to a wide audience in an engaging way. Among the events organized by the Foundation are the Warsaw International Book Fair, the Katowice Book Fair, Young and New Adult Literature Festival, the Historical Book Fair, the Warsaw Autumn Book Fair and the Gdynia Literary Open-Air Fair. We carefully select our partners—institutions and media with whom we collaborate—to ensure the high prestige of our projects.
We organize the Warsaw International Book Fair** – positioned as the premier cultural and industry event in Poland with international prestige and renown – attracting over 120,000 visitors, nearly 600 exhibitors from 14 countries, 1,000 authors, translators, and illustrators, as well as book professionals and cultural icons, with 750 events. We also organize the Katowice Book Fair*, with nearly 250 exhibitors, 200 authors, and an audience of 60,000; the Warsaw Autumn Book Fair*, with 30,000 visitors; and the summer Gdynia Literary Open-Air Fair. For nearly 20 years, we have been organizing the most important Historical Book Fair in Poland*, featuring nearly 160 exhibitors from Poland and abroad and 30,000 visitors. We also organize the prestigious KLIO Prize competition, which accompanies the Fair and promotes the contribution of Polish authors and publishers to the popularization of history and historical literature. Additionally, we are the organizers of the Grand Prix of the Criminal Warsaw Festival and the ACADEMIA Competition for the best academic and scientific book.
We also host online events, including author meetings, educational lecture series, and historical conferences, accessible on the Foundation’s social media platforms.
We also publish books, specializing in historical literature, and popularize knowledge about military affairs and Polish culture. The Foundation’s publishing portfolio includes works such as: “A War Without a Major Battle: The Polish Campaign of 1939”, “Poland, Russia, Germany: From the 16th to the 21st Century”, “Dictionary of Polish Political Thought Creators”, “Józef Piłsudski: From Revolutionary to Marshal”, “The Augustów Roundup Through the Eyes of a Witness”, “Russian Operational Art: Theory and Practice”, “Russian Airborne Forces 1930-2022”, “Poland: The History of the State and Nation”, “Piłsudski Between Stalin and Hitler”, “The Polish Cause in the Frankfurt Parliament of 1848”, “Modern National Defense”, “Prussia: Five Centuries”, “Universal Territorial Defense in the National Security of the Republic of Poland”, “Zadwórze 1920”, “There Were 27 of Them”, “Secrets of the General Staff in Post-Yalta Poland”, “Orsza 1541”, “Polish Soldiers in Afghanistan”, “Air Show”, “Polish Battles 1939-1945: An Encyclopedic Guide”, “Irena z Lamezon-Salin Komorowska 1923-1967”, “Theaters of Warsaw 1944-1945: A Chronicle”, and “Codename Dziady: The National Theater 1967-1968.”
